The Lightroom Lens Correction controls offer a powerful, yet easy-to-use, tool to fix troublesome imperfections. In this Adobe Lightroom tutorial we’ll show you step-by-step how to use it.
With Lightroom's range of powerful tools, fixing lens and perspective issues is a quick and easy affair. This month, we'll look at a few common problems.
First off, there's distortion in our factory scene, with the wide-angle lens making straight lines look bowed.
Lightroom has a database of lenses with information on distortion issues for particular lenses at specific focal lengths, so as long as the lens is included in the image EXIF data (it will be if you shoot in RAW) then fixing distortion is a single-click job.
Chromatic aberration can be a problem, especially with cheaper lenses and wider apertures.
Again, this is usually a one-click fix, although if you want precise control then Lightroom 5 lets you choose which colours to remove.
Finally, there are the Upright buttons. With these impressive tools, fixing keystoning, camera tilt and perspective problems has never been so simple.

How to use Adobe Lightroom Lens Correction: steps 1-3
01 Enable Lens Profile correction
Download our start image and follow along. Drag lens_before into the Lightroom 5 Library Module and click Import, then go to the Develop Module. Scroll to the Lens Correction Panel on the right, then click the Profile Tab. Check 'Enable Profile Corrections' to fix distortion. If your lens profile isn't detected, find it on the dropdown list.

02 Fix chromatic aberration
Click the Lens Correction Colour Tab. Zoom in to the strip light at the top right. Note the green and purple fringing around the edges. You can fix it manually or automatically. First, click on the eyedropper tool and click over the green fringe. Next check 'Remove Chromatic Aberration'.

03 Use Upright buttons
Zoom back out, then go to the Basic Tab in the Lens Correction Panel. Click each of the Upright buttons (Auto, Level, Vertical and Full) to see how they affect the image. Auto works best. It corrects any camera tilt and aligns all the vertical lines.
