Creative Photo Ideas for September: 01 Shoot hot air balloons
Getting a clean shot of a hot air balloon is pretty simple. More challenging is trying to include one in a wider scene – use a very wide lens and the balloon will appear as just a colourful speck in the frame.
To remedy this, you'll need to put yourself in a position close to where they routinely take off and you can photograph them at low level.
Daugirdas Tomas Racys bagged this shot during Bristol Balloon Fiesta: "There was little time to relax due to ever-changing lighting conditions, and fairly fast flying balloons.
“Therefore, it was possible to compose many different shots, but there was little time to even change a lens or filter without missing the action."

* For guaranteed results (weather permitting), head to local balloon festivals.
* To freeze their movement, start with a shutter speed of at least 1/250sec.
* Daugirdas recommends taking a back-up body with a telephoto lens attached for grabbing detail shots.
